When and how did you discover Game Maker?
After working in BASIC, I wanted to make games based in graphics and objects. I did a search for "Free game maker", and bam.
Have you used any other game creation programs?
I have used BASIC, TrueBASIC, and Visual Basic. In BASIC, I didn't really do much. In TrueBASIC, I made a simple rock, paper, scissors RPG. In VB, I made three minigames that were a big hit. I still haven't released them online yet.
What games or other projects have you made with (or for) Game Maker?
My first game was Atomic Wall Ball, a simple pong game. After that, I did some games that were more learning experiences than anything. Then this past year, I released RunMan, which quickly became popular. RunMan Unlimited and RunMan's Christmas Adventure soon followed. In between, I also did a game called Samurai Smackdown, a button mashing minigame. All my games are available at http://www.coolmooseproductions.tk

What are your favorite games NOT made with Game Maker?
Chrono Trigger on SNES
Zelda the Wind Waker on GCN

Tibia for PC
What advice would you give new Game Maker users or those who would like to improve?
Read the help file, and also limit yourself. You have a better chance of pulling off an addicting minigame than the next Starcraft.
What elements of a game are most important to you and why?
Replayability is a big factor. If I can't play a game for more than 10 minutes, it's not a good game.
Why do you make games? What is your primary inspiration, motivation, or both?
I like to create things. Game making is more an art for me than anything else. But it is a unique form of art that requires lots of audience participation.
Do you have other artistic pursuits other than game development? If so, what?
I actually just started up a webcomic called Mega Central, at http://megacentral.2ya.com. I also did a webcomic some time ago called It's Not Easy Being Gene, at http://genegreen.tk, and I'm considering bringing it back.
Any other comments?
Be happy.
